Samsung has successfully addressed the demands of its employees in Chennai, who have been protesting since September 9 for better wages and additional benefits. Following extensive discussions with Tamil Nadu Industries Minister TRB Rajaa, the company has committed to meeting the workers’ requests, leading to a resolution of the ongoing labor strike.
Minister Rajaa took to X to announce the positive outcome, stating that the employees were satisfied with the negotiations. “After nearly 12 hours of discussions, we appreciate Samsung’s leadership for negotiating in good faith and the employees for their constructive engagement,” he tweeted. He also acknowledged the gratitude expressed by many workers for management’s willingness to listen.

Despite the successful negotiations, the issue of union recognition remains unresolved, as it is currently under legal review. The Tamil Nadu government is expected to continue respecting the legal process regarding the Samsung India Workers’ Union, which is supported by the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU).
The strike involved over 1,100 employees from Samsung’s Sriperumbudur unit, who had called for improved labor conditions and formal recognition of their union. Minister Rajaa has urged the workers to return to their posts, emphasizing the importance of moving forward positively after the resolution.
As Samsung implements the agreed-upon changes, both management and employees hope to foster a more harmonious work environment moving forward.
