Overview
Royal Enfield has officially launched the Scram 440, a significant upgrade from the previous Scram 411, featuring a larger 443 cc engine and a host of new features. This model was unveiled at Motoverse 2024 and is set to hit the market in 2025.
Key Features
Engine and Performance: The Scram 440 is powered by a 443 cc long-stroke single-cylinder engine, producing 25.4 bhp at 6250 rpm and 34 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. This is a slight improvement over the Scram 411, which generated 24.5 bhp and 32 Nm. The new engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox, enhancing performance and efficiency.
Design and Dimensions: Visually, the Scram 440 retains much of the design from the Scram 411, including the sculpted fuel tank and single-piece seat. However, it now includes LED lighting and a centre stand as a standard feature. The bike has seen a minor increase in dimensions, with a 5 mm longer length and wheelbase.
New Variants and Color Options: The motorcycle will be available in two variants—Force and Trail—and comes in five new color schemes: Force Blue, Force Grey, Force Teal, Trail Green, and Trail Blue.
Enhanced Features
Switchable ABS: A notable addition is the switchable ABS, allowing riders to disengage the anti-lock braking system for off-road riding—something that was not available on the Scram 411.
Suspension and Braking: The suspension remains a 41 mm telescopic fork at the front and a rear monoshock. Braking is managed by a 300 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc, with improved caliper sizes for better stopping power.
Tubeless Tyres: The Scram 440 can be equipped with tubeless tyres, offering added convenience and puncture resistance for adventurous rides.
Weight and Handling
The Scram 440 has a kerb weight of 187 kg, slightly heavier than its predecessor, but maintains the same wheel sizes with a 19-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel. This weight distribution aims to enhance stability and handling.
