Career Setback for Shaw
Prithvi Shaw has faced another setback in his cricket career, as he has been dropped from Mumbai’s squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy match against Tripura. The match is scheduled to take place in Agartala from October 26 to 29. While the team management has not disclosed specific reasons for the decision, reports indicate concerns regarding Shaw’s attitude toward fitness and discipline.

Selection Committee’s Decision
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) selection committee, led by chairman Sanjay Patil, has decided to exclude the 24-year-old right-handed batter from the squad. According to a report by the Indian Express, the team management informed the MCA that Shaw has a body fat percentage of 35% and requires a rigorous training regimen to improve his fitness levels.

Recent Performance Review
In his last two Ranji Trophy matches, Shaw’s performance has been underwhelming, with scores of 7, 12, 1, and 39 not out in four innings. Once a promising talent who made his debut for India in 2018 against the West Indies, Shaw’s career has faced challenges largely due to off-field issues.

Shaw’s International Stats
Over his international career, Shaw has accumulated 189 runs in six One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 339 runs in nine Test matches, maintaining an average of 42.37.

Mumbai Squad Updates
Ajinkya Rahane will captain the Mumbai side in the upcoming fixture, while Shreyas Iyer and Shardul Thakur are included in the team. However, Suryakumar Yadav has opted out of the match against Tripura for personal reasons, and his request has been granted by the MCA.
