Amaravati, October 28, 2024: Andhra Pradesh IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh is currently on a visit to the United States, where he met with representatives from Perot and Tesla to encourage significant investments in the state.
Investment Opportunities in Aviation and Infrastructure
During a meeting with Perot Companies and Hillwood chairman Ross Perot Jr., Lokesh highlighted the potential for investment in aviation and infrastructure sectors. He emphasized that Andhra Pradesh’s coastal region is well-suited for Alliance Texas projects and sought collaboration on developing ports, highways, and urban centers through public-private partnerships. Perot responded positively to Lokesh’s proposals.
Tesla’s Electric Vehicle Manufacturing Prospects
In a subsequent meeting at Tesla’s headquarters in Austin, Lokesh engaged with Vaibhav Taneja, the CFO of Tesla, a leader in the electric vehicle (EV) market. Lokesh pointed out that Anantapur district presents an ideal location for establishing electric vehicle and battery manufacturing units. He informed Taneja of Andhra Pradesh’s ambitious goal to achieve 72 gigawatts of renewable energy generation by 2029.
Collaboration on Renewable Energy Projects
Beyond EV manufacturing, Lokesh requested Tesla’s involvement in solar panel installations, smart city initiatives, and rural electrification projects across the state. He urged Taneja to assist in developing an EV charging network and implementing supercharging technology, along with the establishment of technology parks in Andhra Pradesh.
