Joint Operation at Foreign Post Office

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) Narcotics Control Unit, in collaboration with Customs officials, has made a significant breakthrough in Bengaluru, seizing narcotics valued at ₹21.17 crore. This operation took place at the city’s Foreign Post Office, where authorities intercepted a staggering 606 parcels containing various banned substances.

International Smuggling Network
The intercepted drugs were smuggled from several countries, including the US, UK, Belgium, Thailand, and the Netherlands. The CCB Narcotics Unit inspected over 3,500 suspicious parcels, utilizing the expertise of a canine squad to aid in the search. This successful operation underscores the extensive network involved in the illicit drug trade.

Variety of Seized Substances
Among the confiscated items were a range of dangerous drugs, including hydro ganja, LSD, MDMA crystals, ecstasy tablets, heroin, cocaine, amphetamine, charas, and ganja oil. Investigations revealed that these substances were being imported through the Indian Postal Service, with plans to sell them at inflated prices in Bengaluru.

Ongoing Crackdown on Drug Trafficking
The recent operation is part of a broader initiative to combat drug trafficking in the region. The CCB Narcotics Unit has registered 12 cases this year and apprehended several individuals linked to similar activities. In September, three suspects were arrested in connection with multiple cases, further highlighting the persistent efforts to dismantle drug networks in the city.

Future Investigations
Authorities are committed to continuing their investigation into this drug smuggling ring, with the potential for more arrests as they trace the complex network of individuals involved in the import and distribution of banned narcotics. The CCB Narcotics Control Unit’s ongoing efforts are crucial in curbing the drug trade and ensuring public safety in Bengaluru.

Conclusion
This significant drug bust serves as a reminder of the challenges posed by illegal drug trafficking and the concerted efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat this issue. As investigations progress, further developments are expected in the fight against the narcotics trade in Bengaluru.
