The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, a cherished American tradition, continues to captivate millions of spectators and television viewers each year. A Grand Spectacle of Entertainment

The 98th edition, set to air on Thanksgiving morning (November 28, 2024), promises to be an unforgettable spectacle. Star-Studded Performances to Remember
This year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade brings together a stellar lineup of performers from the worlds of music, film, and Broadway. Fans can look forward to live performances by Bishop Briggs, Kylie Cantrall, Idina Menzel, Dan + Shay, Lea Salonga, and many more. Broadway shows like “Death Becomes Her,” “Hell’s Kitchen,” and “The Outsiders” will also take center stage, with appearances by the famous Radio City Rockettes.
Exciting Debuts and Iconic Balloons
Among the 17 iconic balloons featured in the parade, six new ones are making their debut, including Minnie Mouse (Disney), Goku (Dragon Ball), and Marshall (Nickelodeon). Additionally, there are 22 extravagant floats, including “Candy Cosmos” (Haribo), “Dora’s Fantastical Rainforest” (Nickelodeon), and “Magic Meets the Seas” (Disney Cruise Line). These imaginative creations reflect the creativity and advanced engineering behind the parade.

Marching Bands and Performance Groups
Ten marching bands from across the country will also be part of the procession, including the University of Massachusetts Minuteman Marching Band and Sioux Falls Lincoln High School’s “Patriot” Marching Band. Performance groups such as Riverdance and Circus Vazquez will provide even more excitement for the crowd, making the event a grand celebration of both music and dance.
Parade Route and Viewing Tips for Spectators
The 98th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will kick off at 8:30 a.m., starting from 77th Street and Central Park West. It will travel a 2.5-mile route through the city, ending at Macy’s Herald Square on 34th Street. Spectators planning to watch the parade in person are advised to arrive early and take note of security measures, including restrictions on large bags and strollers.
NYPD Traffic Advisory for Parade Day
The NYPD has issued a traffic advisory to inform the public about road closures for the parade. The formation areas, route, and dispersal zones will result in street closures, including sections of Central Park West, 6th Avenue, Broadway, and 34th Street. Those attending are encouraged to plan ahead for the best viewing experience.
Television and Online Viewing Information
For those unable to attend in person, the parade will air live on NBC and Peacock from 8:30 a.m. to noon, providing coverage of the festivities. An encore presentation will be available at 2:00 p.m. for additional viewing options.
