Isha Ambani, daughter of Mukesh and Nita Ambani, is quickly establishing herself as a prominent figure in India’s retail landscape. Born on October 23, 1991, in Mumbai, Isha is a twin to Akash Ambani and has a younger brother, Anant. She received a strong educational foundation, attending Dhirubhai Ambani International School before pursuing a double major in Psychology and South Asian Studies at Yale University. She furthered her education with an MBA from Stanford University in 2018.
Since joining the boards of Reliance Retail and Reliance Jio in 2014, Isha has played a crucial role in expanding these sectors. Under her leadership, Reliance Retail reported a gross revenue of ₹3.06 lakh crore (approximately $36.8 billion) for the financial year ending March 31, 2024, marking a growth of 17.8% year-over-year. At the recent Annual General Meeting, she announced ambitious plans to double the retail business in the next three to four years, expressing confidence in achieving this goal.
Isha was instrumental in launching AJIO, a successful multi-brand e-commerce platform that blends Western and traditional Indian fashion. Additionally, she is leading efforts in quick-commerce to enhance Reliance’s presence in the fast-growing e-commerce market.
Beyond her business endeavors, Isha is actively involved in philanthropy through the Reliance Foundation, focusing on promoting digital education in rural India. Her commitment to bridging the digital divide was exemplified in her role in establishing the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, which aims to promote arts and culture in the country.
Isha Ambani married Anand Piramal in 2018, and they welcomed twins in November 2022. Known for her love of sports and music, Isha remains a force in India’s retail and business sectors, with her influence only expected to grow in the coming years.
