Hyundai Unveils Initium FCEV Concept Ahead of 2025 Launch

Hyundai has officially revealed the Initium, its latest hydrogen-powered fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) concept SUV. Set to make its global debut at the upcoming LA Auto Show, the Initium previews a production model expected in the first half of 2025.

A Glimpse into the Future: ‘Art of Steel’ Design Language

The Initium concept showcases Hyundai’s new ‘Art of Steel’ design language, hinting at the aesthetic direction for future FCEVs. With a futuristic and boxy design, the SUV features a distinctive front fascia, characterized by rectangular split-style daytime running lights (DRLs) integrated into a black sash that spans the vehicle’s width. The innovative design includes headlamps and taillamps arranged in a unique square pattern.

Striking Design Features

One of the standout elements of the Initium is its coupe-like roofline, which elegantly flows into the tailgate, enhancing the vehicle’s aerodynamic profile. The SUV is equipped with 21-inch wheels designed specifically to minimize drag, contributing to its performance and efficiency.

Impressive Performance and Features

Hyundai has announced that the Initium will be powered by a 150 kW electric motor, providing a claimed driving range of 650 kilometers on a single charge. In terms of comfort and convenience, the concept will feature reclining rear seats, nine airbags for enhanced safety, and vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, allowing users to power external devices directly from the vehicle.
