Mumbai, October 14, 2024 – The Mumbai-Howrah Mail was briefly halted at Jalgaon station early Monday morning following a bomb threat, prompting a thorough security check. Railway officials reported that the Mumbai control room received a message around 4 AM indicating a bomb had been planted on train number 12809.

Upon receiving the threat, the train was stopped, and officials conducted a search for suspicious items. Fortunately, no explosives were found, and the train was cleared to continue its journey to Howrah.

The Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Central Railways confirmed, “Mumbai-Howrah Mail received a threat to blow up the train with a timer bomb. After thorough checks at Jalgaon station, no suspicious object was found, and the train proceeded towards its destination.”

The bomb threat coincided with multiple threats directed at airlines. Two IndiGo flights departing from Mumbai, heading to Muscat and Jeddah, also received bomb threats today, leading to immediate action from the airline and airport authorities. Both aircraft were moved to isolated bays, and security checks were promptly initiated.

In a related incident, an Air India flight bound for New York from Mumbai was diverted to Delhi following a specific security alert. Air India stated that all passengers had safely disembarked and that efforts were being made to minimize disruption.

The series of threats highlights ongoing security concerns in the region, prompting swift responses from aviation and railway authorities to ensure passenger safety.
