Collaboration with SAIC Motor
Audi has launched a sub-brand in China, simply named “AUDI,” in partnership with SAIC Motor. The highlight of this new electric sub-brand is the recently unveiled “E Concept,” which showcases the company’s vision for future models and powertrain capabilities.
Impressive Performance Metrics
The E Concept boasts some remarkable specifications, including a dual-motor setup that delivers a combined output of 760 bhp and 800 Nm of torque. With this power, the vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. The vehicle’s advanced 800-volt architecture supports a significant driving range of up to 700 km (under the CLTC cycle) from its 100 kWh battery pack. Notably, just 10 minutes of rapid charging can provide over 370 km of range.
Design and Features
The E Concept features a unique design that deviates from Audi’s traditional aesthetics, notably lacking the iconic ‘Four Rings’ logo. Measuring 4,870 mm in length, 1,990 mm in width, and 1,460 mm in height, with a 2,950 mm wheelbase, its profile resembles more of a station wagon than a typical crossover. The design includes a flat nose, a sloping roofline, and squared-off tail lamps reminiscent of a Range Rover.
Inside, the E Concept presents a futuristic and minimalist layout, dominated by a massive touchscreen panel that replaces the conventional dashboard, suggesting readiness for production.
Future Plans for the Sub-Brand
The E Concept is positioned as a near-production model and will spearhead Audi’s electric vehicle offerings in China. Following this model, three additional electric vehicles are planned across mid- and full-size segments, with the first set to launch as early as mid-2025.
