Introduction of the Q6 Sportback
Audi has officially unveiled the Q6 Sportback, adding a sleek coupe-SUV body style to its growing electric portfolio. This model marks the sixth all-electric offering from the Ingolstadt-based automaker. The Q6 Sportback made its public debut at the Paris Motor Show 2024 and will be available for purchase next year as part of the MY2025 lineup.
Aerodynamic Enhancements
With a lowered roofline that is 37mm less than the standard Q6, the Sportback design significantly improves aerodynamics. This change has reduced the drag coefficient from 0.28 to 0.26, enhancing efficiency and performance while maintaining a generous boot space of 511 litres. When the rear seats are folded down, this expands to an impressive 1,373 litres, complemented by a 64-litre frunk and 25 litres of additional cabin storage.
Design Inspiration
Audi claims the Q6 Sportback’s sloping roofline is reminiscent of the iconic Audi TT. While the front fascia and tail lamp designs remain consistent with the standard Q6, the Sportback adds a sporty touch with a boot-mounted spoiler that enhances its visual appeal.
Interior Features
Inside, the Q6 Sportback showcases the brand’s modern MMI panoramic display. The cabin is crafted from 100% recycled polyester, alongside materials such as anthracite fabric and birch wood stone grey, all designed to create a luxurious yet environmentally friendly interior.
Powertrain Options
The Q6 Sportback will offer two battery configurations. The entry-level model features an 82kWh battery with a rear-wheel-drive setup, delivering 248 horsepower and achieving 0-100 km/h in seven seconds. A more powerful dual-motor version produces 304 horsepower and accelerates to 100 km/h in just 6.6 seconds. For those seeking high performance, the SQ6 Sportback boasts a combined output of 487 horsepower, capable of sprinting to 100 km/h in only 4.3 seconds.
Range and Charging Capabilities
Audi claims the 83kWh battery versions of the Q6 Sportback can achieve ranges of up to 545 kilometers, while the all-wheel-drive variant can extend this to 636 kilometers. The SQ6 Sportback with all-wheel drive has a range of 607 kilometers. For charging convenience, it supports 270kW fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in just 22 minutes.
Manufacturing and Availability
Both the Q6 Sportback and SQ6 Sportback will be produced at Audi’s main plant in Germany. The price range for these models in Germany is expected to be between €65,000 and €96,000. While the global delivery is set to commence, an official debut in India is anticipated to follow shortly thereafter.
