Silver medallists will earn Rs 4 crore instead of Rs 50 lakh, while bronze medallists will get Rs 3 crore, up from Rs 30 lakh. Additionally, all Olympic participants will be awarded Rs 50 lakh each.
Support for Asian Games Athletes
The state government is also enhancing rewards for athletes competing in the Asian Games. Gold medallists will receive Rs 4 crore, silver medallists Rs 2 crore, and bronze medallists Rs 1 crore. Participants in the Asian Games will each get Rs 10 lakh, promoting greater involvement in these prestigious events.
Employment Opportunities in Sports
In a bid to further promote sports, the government plans to increase the sports employment quota from 2% to 3%. This move aims to provide more job opportunities within the sports sector and encourage a culture of sports participation.
Key Objectives of the New Sports Policy
Naidu emphasized that the revamped sports policy will focus on four main objectives: making sports accessible for all, nurturing talent, creating a robust sports ecosystem, and enhancing global visibility for Andhra Pradesh athletes. Amendments to this policy will soon be presented to the Cabinet for approval.
Conclusion
Andhra Pradesh is taking significant steps to boost its sports landscape, ensuring that athletes receive the recognition and support they deserve. With increased financial incentives and a comprehensive policy framework, the state aims to foster a thriving sports culture and encourage more athletes to excel on the international stage.
