Introduction of Firefly Video Model
Adobe has officially unveiled its Firefly Video Model, marking a significant expansion into AI-generated video content. Currently in limited public beta, this new model aims to provide tools for safe and efficient video creation, complementing Adobe’s existing suite of generative AI tools.
Features of Firefly Video Model
The Firefly Video Model includes three key tools designed to enhance video production: Text-to-Video, Image-to-Video, and Generative Extend. Each tool is tailored to facilitate different aspects of video creation and editing, offering users innovative ways to produce content.

Generative Extend Tool for Premiere Pro
The Generative Extend tool allows users to make minor video and audio edits directly within Premiere Pro. It can extend video clips by up to two seconds at 720p or 1080p resolution and enhance audio elements, such as sound effects and ambient noise, by up to ten seconds. This feature aims to streamline the editing process, reducing the need for retakes due to minor issues like incorrect eye-lines.
Text-to-Video and Image-to-Video Tools
The Text-to-Video tool enables users to generate videos based on textual descriptions, mimicking various styles like traditional film and animation. Users can refine their clips with camera controls that replicate different angles and movements. Meanwhile, the Image-to-Video tool allows the inclusion of a reference image along with text prompts, enhancing the creative control over the final output. This feature is particularly useful for creating b-roll from photos or visualizing potential reshoots.
Production Time and Commercial Viability
Each video generation process takes approximately 90 seconds, although Adobe is working on a “turbo mode” to expedite this. Notably, Adobe emphasizes that its models are built on content the company has rights to use, offering a degree of commercial safety that may be lacking in competitors’ models, which have faced scrutiny over copyright issues.
Pricing and Availability
Currently, the Firefly Video Model is available in limited public beta on Adobe’s official website. Interested users must join a waitlist, and all video generations during this beta phase are free. Adobe plans to release more information regarding pricing and offers once the model exits beta testing.
This launch positions Adobe as a formidable player in the AI video generation space, competing directly with platforms from OpenAI and Meta while emphasizing safety and compliance in content creation.
